earth fair market st georges mall

Earth Fair have fairly recently opened another market smack in the very beautiful and historic part of Cape Town along the upper end of St Georges Mall.

Its open every Thursday from 11 am – 5 pm, and creates the perfect opportunity for city workers and visitors to pick up lunch from the many prepared food vendors, and supplies from the artisan and fresh food producers.

Market shopping right on your doorstep.

I’m a big fan of the Tokai Earth Fair Market which is open on a Wednesday afternoon and Saturday until 2pm, so I went along last Thursday to take a look.

I rarely wonder the streets of central Cape Town, so taking a long and leisurely stroll through our stunning city on a perfect autumnal day, I was reminded yet again how lucky I am, how I should be a ‘tourist’ in my own town more often, and what a great vibe it has.

fantastic bustling vibe around green market square

the pedestrian streets of down town cape town

a cheese supplier and oded's kitchen dishing up delectable hot meals, hot chocolate and selling their relishes

oded's kitchen relishes, sauces and savoury pie

cheeses, sandwiches, stuffed rolls and a fantastic selection of pies

stunning artisan charcuterie from meat me here

delicious empanadas and latin american flavours from the orinoco ladies (a big favourite of mine), lovely and unusual varieties of fresh fish spring rolls

pots of fynbos honey, peanut sauce and country mustards amongst other things and jams and pickles

by nature dried fruits and nuts, homemade fudge and fudge sauce and lovely kebabs and falafel

cupcakes, very reasonably priced fresh fruit and vegetables and the Taj selling curry

the market is nesteled between historic buildings and a sit down area with hay bales and tables

fresh flowers and fresh fruit juice

fresh bread from Doppio zero

there is a sushi stand and a biltong stand

Great post Sam…thanks!
Hope to see lots of new faces this Thurs…11am to 5pm.
If it’s rains, we’ll be inside the Mandela Rhodes building…so the market will go on regardless.
