go on a wineflies tour

Wineflies Wine Tour to Stellenbosch

I was invited to experience a Winefllies tour to Stellenbosch recently and I’m so glad I went along. We are mid harvest, so being on a wine farm is awesome right now. You get to see the grapes being harvested, picked, and brought into the cellar for the first pressing. It’s basically the most exciting time of year in wine production and when all the action happens.

Of course visiting wine farms to taste wine and eat delicious food in a beautiful setting is a good idea any time of the year and Winelflies offers daily scheduled tours departing from Cape Town. As much as this is great for tourists visiting the city and looking for a small and well-curated winelands experience, it’s also fab for locals who feel like a day out without the bother of driving. Their prices are really reasonable, all-inclusive and the tours come with a knowledgeable guide. They can make up bespoke trips and private tours If you want to do specific farms and be on your own. two days in stellenbosch and the spier secret festival

Spier Estate, Stellenbosch

Last week I spent 48 hours in the beautiful town of Stellenbosch immersed in the annual Spier Secret Festival and it was fabulous. I had missed the past two events so I was very ready to go back. With so much going on and a packed itinerary I wanted to be nearby and got to stay at the lovely self catering guest house 22 Die Laan. Located just off historic Dorp street and five minutes walking distance from town it couldn’t have been better. A quiet old house with lovely rooms, shared pool and garden terrace, I was able to come and go as if I lived there which is pretty much how I wanted to feel. Continue Reading →

Indochine, Delaire Graff Estate

I had the absolute privilege of visiting Indochine at Delaire Graff Estate on Friday to shoot a few of the new winter menu dishes on a photogrpahy assignment. It was also my first time at this exquisite Asian inspired fine dining restaurant with beautiful artwork and views.

Indochine, Delaire Graff Estate

Virgil Khan, Head Chef at Indochine crafts dishes that are Asian inspired with a South African spin. The menu is healthy and light with the most robust flavours I have encountered in a long time. Each mouthful was an explosion of taste and I was blown away by the originality of the food. Some of the most interesting and inspired dishes I have tasted in a while. Continue Reading →
