I’ve just got back from a whirlwind food and travel adventure to Johannesburg where I caught up with the food scene in our biggest and most vibrant city. I used to live there, so Joburg is my second home and I love visiting. Normally I stay with family and friends and land up spending most of my time in their homes and don’t get out as much as Id like. Last week was a little different. I stayed in four amazing hotels and bounced around old favourite haunts and discovered a few amazing new places. kulula.com – South Africa’s number one low-cost airline and Avios Rewards Programme (who they have recently partnered with) invited me to fly to any destination in South Africa for a foodie adventure and I chose Joburg. South Africa is filled with exciting destinations and Avios customers can earn three Avios for every R10 spent on Kulula flights. If you are not collecting points every single time you fly, you are wasting an opportunity. Places to go, people to see, and food to eat is what I always say. Continue Reading →
This last week-end I was invited to stay at the Thatch House in Hermanus which is a luxurious villa with mountain views on the one side and the lagoon views on the other. It reminded me of a movie – I’m just not sure which one exactly, but basically it was like taking a break from my normal life and stepping into another world. The house sleeps up to 21 people with 4 family suites and 2 double rooms and is only available to rent in totality. So you have to take it all. It comes either as a self catering property, or you can make use of their built-in amazing chef as we did. You can find out more about eating at the Thatch House and chef Terry here. Sometimes images just look better in black and white, and these are a few of mine from my recent trip to Israel. You can read all about my amazing food tour here, as well as see the pics from the Mahane Yehudi Market in Jerusalem and the Sarona Market in Tel Aviv.
