the very elegent Reubens at the one & only in the waterfront

A couple of weeks ago we attened the South African Food Bloggers Indaba and the lovely Alida Ryder of the very popular and successful blog: Simply Deliciouswas in town. Alida wanted to gather a few of us together for a special Cape Town dining experience, so off we went to Reubens at the One & Only.

I had never eaten there,  nor had I eaten at Maze so was thrilled with this opportunity. I ate the duck salad, the pork belly and the creme brulee and enjoyed every morsel.

Its always such a treat to dine at the top end of the spectrum and with fellow foodie freaks, this was one of those special occasions.

Overall the menu, service and ambience was exceptional and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

This is what we ate (more or less, with a few little details missing)

warm duck salad with honey, chilli, beans sprout and ginger vinaigrette
assorted seafood starter
tuna carpaccio
Patagonion chilli salted baby squid with salad and a lime mayonnaise
steak tartare with Grana Padano, mustard mayonnaise, caper berries, rocket, fresh egg yolk
Crisp pork belly with a chilli and caramel sauce, gingered sprouting broccoli, mustard pommes purée
fillet steak (unsure of the exact accompaniments)
trio of creme brulee, hazelnut sorbet and hot chocolate (sublime)
trio of fruit sorbet
with raspeberries
