The Mussel Bar is a ‘one menu item’ restaurant concept which was the brainchild of Bertus Basson. Located below The Bay Hotel and on the pavement, its perfect to roll off the beach and grab a snack or a drink.
I adore mussels and these are from Saldanha Bay. Prepared in a simple but very tasty beer sauce, served in either a 500g or 1kg portion, they come with marvelous thick hand cut fries on the side. Slices of rustic bread, aioli and rosemary salt add the finishing touch to this delicious meal.
