If you haven’t heard about the Outlandish Kitchen events, a unique pop up restaurant concept brought to you by the talented foodie and stylist Jules Mercer, this is what they say about them:

“Outlandish Kitchen aims to bring you closer to the origin of really good food. Once a full (or not so full moon) we will set up a pop up kitchen on mountains or in valleys around the Cape. Farmers and artisans from the local area will supply us with their incredible produce. We’ll be lucky enough to tour the land before sitting at a long dining table, where a celebrated chef from the area will bring the ingredients together to create a truly local and delicious feast. Some ingredients so local they may be under your feet.
From start to finish, this will be a unique eating experience that’s so down to earth it’s on the earth.”

The next exciting event is taking place this week-end – so read on …….

Ever heard of Glenoakes? Its where Charlie & Julie Crowther farm free range pork that tastes simply sublime. You can see why, when you look at how these porkers live. We’ll be hanging out with them for a few days and would love you to join us to support the farmers of the Hemel-en-Aarde valley and their delicious produce.

This is whats happening:

This one’s the Feastival. We’re bringing in more of you, and the vibe is summer dresses and picnics. This ticket includes a picnic basket (we’ll even do them for one), a few glasses of wine and some folksy entertainment. Take a day out of town and head on over the mountain. We’ll also have all the producers we can muster there for you to stock up on goodies for December hollies. Ya-hum. For the kids there’ll be loads of gogos and farm style entertainment.

Date: 8th December
Time: 11am til 430pm
Adults: R350 per person
Kids: R150 each

What can possibly beat a Sunday roast? We’re pulling out a few more stops and setting up in the oak forest, for one of our unique feasts. This includes food & wine.

Date: 9th December
Time: 12pm til 4pm
Cost: R650 pp
(unfortuantely we wont have kids’ entertainment on the Sunday, so if you’re keen to bring the
babes Saturday’s your day)

Check out this set of beautiful pics from a previous event.

This is a little what the last one looked like:

  1. This looks just amazing! My Mr & I love good food, but we’re not really the ‘starched napkin’ type, so this looks right up our alley! Would love to win & we’d go to celebrate 1 year of running my own business & working together! My fledgling business is not quite up to paying for the tickets just yet – but it’s definitely worth celebrating 🙂

  2. I’ve heard a lot about the Outlandish events – but have never been able to make one! I would love to win tickets for the upcoming event – so badly. Please pick me 🙂

  3. I would love to win because my wonderful man is over from the UK and I would love to show him that part of the cape and there simply couldn’t be any thing more romantic than sharing a fabulous picnic with him sampling local food and wines in the outstandingly beautiful surroundings of the Hemel-en-Aarde valley 🙂

  4. sounds like an awesome event. Definitely need to have more of these in jhb 🙂
