A couple of Fridays ago I headed to Franschhoek to experience the new Spring menu at La Petite Colombe. I went last year so I knew I was in for a treat. The chef teams from both La Colombe restaurants have recently returned from an amazing culinary tour to the USA, Mexico, Copenhagen, and Tokyo, and after ticking many top restaurants off their bucket list and exploring new flavours, they have returned with fresh inspiration and injected this into their new menu’s. Lucky me got invited to experience some of the exciting new tastes.
La Petite Colombe only offers a tasting menu and you can opt for the 5 or 7 courses. It’s a meal that takes you on a flavour journey with a few flares of culinary theatre along the way. We enjoyed the chefs tasting menu which was paired with the fine & rare wine selection, but they also offer the Franschhoek wine experience. There Winter & Spring special offers incredible value and runs until 31 November 2019. With all the tasting menus you receive the La Colombe signature amuse bouche, bread course, palate cleansers and after dining treats.
From the ethereal amuse-bouche planted in a potted garden brought to your table, through to the torched whiskey marshmallows with the final treats, all the dishes were delicious and inspired. Once again I enjoyed an outstanding dining experience at La Petite Colombe and I can highly recommend this.
