Constance Belle Mare Plage in Mauritius

‘Welcome to paradise‘ was the greeting I received as I checked into Constance Belle Mare Plage late at night. I couldn’t wait to wake up the next morning to see if for the first time. If you are looking for a tropical beach destination with so much to do, Mauritius is it.

I had been invited to the week-long Constance Culinary Festival taking place at the two Constance resorts. Imagine incredible food prepared by Michelin starred chefs on an idyllic island? I had indeed landed in heaven.

Constance Belle Mare Plage and Constance Prince Maurice are nearly neighbours in the north east corner of Mauritius. The weather is good and the beaches are pearly white with the balmy crystal clear water. You will want to swim all the time.

You could happily stay at the 5 star luxurious Bell Mare Plage resort all week, or use it as a base to explore the island. The property has 104 Prestige Rooms, 149 Junior Suites, 6 Deluxe Suites, 18 distinctive Villas, and a Presidential Villa, with every room featuring a separate living room space and large bathrooms with shower and bathtubs.

If lazing on the beach each day is your vibe, stay in one of the beachfront junior suites. This will give you a very spacious room experience with an outside patio and direct access to the beach.

Constance resorts are known for their superior food and are as much a culinary destinations as a luxury beach hotel. Here you get the best of both worlds and can choose between seven restaurants and six bars. You can check out their website for various full or half board options to suit your needs. I loved the Indigo beach restaurant for fresh fish and excellent sushi.

This connection with food and the desire to share knowledge and skills with their staff prompted the creation of the Festival Culinaire 18 years ago. In association with Relais Bernard Loiseau and Pierre Hermé, the festival is a well-orchestrated series of events, cooking competitions & unique dining experiences that bring award-winning chefs from all over the world to work side by side with chefs from the various Constance Resorts in the Indian Islands, (Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles and the Maldives).

You can read all about the festival here. This culinary extravaganza is available for guests at the resorts and sees international visitors travelling to it. Guests can pick and choose what part of the programme they want to expereince.

Constance Belle mare Plage offers and array of activities and I did a spot of snorkelling whilst there. It’s a wonderful destination for families with kids but also for couples/friends seeking a quieter vacation. One of the swimming pools is a serenity child free zone and is positively zen-like.
