A weekend at The Wild Olive House at Bartholomeus Klip
I enjoyed a fabulous weekend away with friends at Bartholomeus Klip. This is one of my all-time favourite places to stay and I got to experience The Wild Olive House for the first time. This self-catering heritage cottage looks out onto the Elandsberg Nature Reserve and is the perfect family & friends getaway.
Bartholomeus Klip catered one of our dinners and a brunch for us which were both an absolute feast. Generous and delicious family-style meals prepared with the best farm ingredients. I can highly recommend this option when you stay.
About Wild Olive House:
Wild Olive House is popular with groups of friends and families. Located at an authentic historical Cape farm, the house offers views and direct access to the private Elandsberg Nature Reserve.
This quaint farmhouse has its own garden, swimming pool, shady verandah, outdoor facilities for braaing, and an extra garden cottage. Brunch and dinner can be ordered and delivered to the house, or adults are welcome to join for dinner at the restaurant.
Wild Olive House comfortably sleeps 6 adults, in 2 rooms with King-sized beds, 2 separate bathrooms and 1 bunk bedroom in the main house, and 1 King-sized bed and 1 bathroom in a separate garden cottage.
Bartholomeus Klip Wagyu:
Bartholomeus Klip Farm produces the most incredible Wagyu and some of the best meat I have ever tasted in my life. Their free-range Wagyu herd roams freely on the open pastures of Elandsberg Farms. These cattle graze on grass and breathe in the pure air of the Swartland region. Not only does this beef boast incredible flavour, but it also offers health benefits.
Since the birth of their first Wagyu calf in 2016, they prioritized breeding superior genetics through sustainable farming practices. This ensures consistency and healthy qualities in their cattle.
The Wagyu cattle are fed a specially crafted and balanced diet for 12 months, utilizing grain grown on the farm. They select only the finest animals from top Wagyu bloodlines, ensuring a bespoke and limited supply. Their rigorous quality control measures extend throughout the entire supply chain.
Bartholomeus Klip Wagyu beef offers a melt-in-the-mouth experience due to the low melting point of the fatty acids within the marbling. While they aim for consistency, each animal naturally produces a distinct marbling pattern, which gets rated on a scale of 6 to 9. The price of their Wagyu is determined by this score, which will be clearly indicated on the product you receive.
We barbequed a very large aged rib-eye on the bone ‘Bistecca alla Fiorentina-style’ along with a T-Bone we brought from home and the meat was so delicious. You can check out their website for the availability of the meat.
Here are a few more pics from our magical stay that included a game drive through the reserve, swims in the farm lake and pretty pink sunsets.
