10 recipes to tuck into this august

August has rolled in just as quickly as every other month this year and aside from that really weird heat wave we had on Monday, winter is still going to be around a little bit longer.
In terms of food, we haven’t quite reached peak comfort so these are 10 recipes that you can enjoy this month.
Roasted tomato risotto (pictured above) and IF you have any leftovers, you can turn them into roasted tomato arancini
Clementines and in particular Clemengold clementines (available in Woolies) are in peak season and I literally cannot get enough of them. This is a much-loved recipe of mine.
Chickpeas and chorizo with sherry
I love this recipe with my heart and soul and make it so often. It’s super easy to whip up and perfect for a quick mid week supper or share as a snack with crusty bread.
If there is one thing I like after a good beef burger, it’s my favourite vegetarian burger. I like mine to be made of roasted mushrooms that have marinated in olive oil and pesto and served on a toasted brioche bun with cheese and salad things.
Roasted aubergine with harissa & yoghurt
Inspired by Ottolenghi this is a quick and easy way to take you to Middle Eastern food heaven.
I discovered jerk chicken (sadly) very late in the game but I’m all over it now. It’s also delicious when you turn it into the crunchiest fried chicken burger
Jamie Olivers crispy fried zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta & mint
If you can find zucchini blossoms at your farmers market (I find mine at Oranjezicht City Farmers Market) then make these. They are so delicious.
The best tres leches cake that is actually a ses leches cake
Definitely, in the top 5 cakes, I’ve ever made

Sam, there are so many delicious looking recipes here, I don’t know where to start! But I could defiantly go a huge bowl of that shakshouka right now, followed by ridiculously large slice of the Tres Leches cake.
