55+ Easter Recipes for the Long Weekend
Easter falls in my favourite season of the year, and I love all the food that goes with it. We transition out of summer into cooler days with beautiful light and auburn colours everywhere. Whether you’re planning a long lunch with family, a relaxed brunch on Good Friday, or just want an excuse to bake something special, this is my go-to collection of Easter recipes. From starters and mains to hot cross bun baking and chocolate desserts, I’ve rounded up everything you need.
Easter Baking
Stout hot cross buns. These are way easier to make than you might think and so much better than anything you will find in a shop. The stout adds a malty depth, and the dough is soft and pillowy. This is one of my all-time favourite recipes on the blog and has been baked by so many readers over the years.
Stout hot cross bun bread The same recipe made into a loaf, which is easier to slice and toast. You can also make a loaf and 8 buns from one batch to keep everyone happy.

Hot cross cinnamon sticky buns If you love hot cross bun spices but want something more indulgent, these sticky buns are it. Warm, gooey and incredibly moreish.

Easy raisin hot cross scones. All the delicious flavours of a hot cross bun in an easy scone recipe.

Chocolate & orange hot cross buns. I give a classic hot cross bun, an orange, and a chocolate twist. I soaked the raisins in sherry and orange juice to really add flavour and depth. Whipped salted caramel butter is a great way to finish them off.

Hot cross bun biscotti All the flavours of hot cross buns in a crisp, twice-baked biscuit. Perfect with a cup of tea on an autumn afternoon.

Easter Starters and Snacks
I think it’s nice to keep the starter quite casual at Easter and rather have people nibble on a few light things to liven up the appetite before the main event.
The best-ever chicken liver pate Another classic from the blog. Serve on Melba toast with a drop of marmalade for a sweet edge. This can be made a day or two in advance.

Tomato and basil crostini with whipped goat’s cheese Light, fresh and easy to prepare ahead. A great one to have on the table while the lamb is resting.
The best whipped feta with roasted tomatoes and garlic So easy to assemble and a real crowd-pleaser. Serve with toasted ciabatta and let people help themselves.

My best butternut soup recipe. I have been perfecting this recipe for years, and I have added loads of warming spices and a hint of orange to what I think is my ultimate butternut soup recipe. This is perfect for a cooler Easter feast. Crispy sage leaves and cheddar croutons take it up a notch.

The Best Roast Beetroot Hummus. This is the best roast beetroot (beet) hummus recipe, based on what could be the best hummus recipe in the world. The earthy flavours of the roast beetroot (beet) carry through the creamy texture of this dip. The bright pink colour adds appeal and is a standout at any party or picnic.
Easter Lamb Recipes
Nothing beats a roast lamb at Easter. These are my favourite ways to cook it, from slow-roasted shoulder to a herb-crusted rack.
Slow-roasted shoulder of lamb with harissa and garlic This cooks itself, leaving you plenty of time to do other things. The harissa gives it a gorgeous crust and the meat falls apart with a fork.

Roast leg of lamb with rosemary, garlic, harissa and lemon A more traditional roast leg with a North African-inspired flavour profile. Brilliant for a large family gathering.
Lamb Shanks With Red Wine & Rosemary – These are my best lamb shanks made in an Instant Pot or on the stove top. Classic flavours of red wine and rosemary are all you need for this delicious dish.
Greek lamb moussaka with aubergines A lovely option if you want something you can make entirely in advance and serve with a few simple sides.

Herb-crusted rack of lamb For a stylish dinner party dish, this is a winner. It looks impressive and cooks in under 30 minutes.

Lamb shank pie with red wine, rosemary and bay A real showstopper. Rich, deeply flavoured and topped with golden puff pastry. Perfect for a cooler Easter evening.

Easter Chicken and Beef Recipes
If lamb is not your thing, these are equally fitting for an Easter table.
Roast chicken with stout, rosemary and honey A lovely autumn roast chicken. The stout and honey create a gorgeous sticky glaze.

Chicken with white wine, herbs and garlic One of my favourite recipes on the entire blog. The wine sauce is incredible and you’ll want to mop up every last bit with bread.

Beef Bourguignon A classic French stew that only gets better the day after. Make it on Saturday and reheat for Easter Sunday lunch.

Beef and mushroom pie Rich, comforting and topped with buttery pastry. This one feeds a crowd and is perfect for the long weekend.

Vegetarian Easter Main
Mushroom bourguignon A hearty vegetarian take on the French classic. Just as rich and satisfying as the beef version and perfect for a meat-free Easter table.
Roasted Vegetable Lasagne With Aubergine & Peppers. This is probably my favourite vegetarian main course dish of all time

Sweet Potato Gnocchi With Creamy Mushrooms – A crowd pleaser.

Perfect Spinach & Three Cheese Phyllo Pie. This is a delicious Mediterranean dish.

Your blog and recipes are fantastic always. It would be so kind and helpful to your readers if you would please post a print button on your recipes for ease of mind and use. Also both ingredient measurements . Maybe weight and grams.
Hi Pat, many of the recipes are on a printable cards especially the very latest ones. I had a few technical problems with the plugin so it wasnt always possible to do this. You can always copy and paste it into a blank word document (takes seconds) and then print that. As for the weight and measureemtns I do the best I can here and they are as they are. All this is freely available to you at no cost so Im sorry if it doesnt suit you. Best Sam
I lived in Connecticut a few years back so, New England type buns were abundant. I moved a few times since and now have been in Texas for quite a while. A year ago I saw a photo of “the buns and my taste buds remembered! I “got me a hankering but, am having a hard time locating these close byany ideas?
