My best breakfast recipes
As I sit at my desk and look out over a very grey sky and watch the storm moving in, all I want to do is hibernate and drink tea. I think of more comforting food and hearty breakfasts that roll into brunch. These are not the sorts of recipes you would make for a busy weekday (apart from a few of them), but ones that you would plan to make in advance on a chilled week-end. These are 10 of my best breakfast recipes.
I thought since we have a mega long weekend coming up and peeps will be taking some time off, I would share a few of my top favourite breakfast recipes. They should be made late in the morning in order to skip lunch. I’ve been known to make quite a few of these for dinner – especially the Mennemen which is 100% my all-time favourite scrambled egg recipe.
Dutch baby pancake with blueberries & lemon
A delectable sweet breakfast treat and ideal to serve a few people
Menemen or Turkish scrambled eggs
This is the most delicious recipe for breakfast lunch or supper and comes from Diana Henry. I even made a video to show you how they are done. Thank me later.
Eggs fried in cream with sage & bay
Simply delicious and a little different. Like butter but better.
Smoked salmon omelette with chive creme fraiche
This recipe comes from Neill Anthony and is one of my faves in terms of indulgence and interesting flavours. Its THE ONE you will want to whip out to impress a significant other.
I’ve only made this granola once but decided at the time it was my favourite so I might not make any others. Its loaded with almonds and cashews making it extra special. I love to serve it with Greek yoghurt, fresh fruit and another drizzle of honey. It’s also great to snack on straight from the jar (shhhhhh).
Eggs Benedict on roast brown mushrooms
This is my take on a traditional eggs Benedict which has to be the best breakfast ever invented. I’ve replaced the toasted English muffin with a roasted brown mushroom and its delicious. I also included a recipe for a cheats hollondaise becasue lets face it, its not the easiest thing to make.
I’m obsessed with shakshuka and maybe even more so so since my trip to Israel where I ate it all the time. It’s another breakfast dish that is perfect for lunch and supper too. It needs lovely crusty bread to dunk onto the runny eggs.
Heres a recipe for greeen shakshuka if you prefer it that way.
Croque madame with spinach and smoked salmon
This recipe is a twist on a classic croque madame where the bechamel is in the sandwich with the spinach.
Crispy fried egg on avocado toast with mushrooms, spinach & pesto
This take on avo toast is just so extra it’s going to make you very happy. The toasted sunflower seeds add a surprising crunchy element.
Eggs fried in feta and chilli crisp oil
Steel-cut oats with maple syrup, cinnamon and roasted banana
I love to pimp up my oats in winter and all these flavours are so delicious together. I love fresh bananas in my oats, but roasted they are even better.
Nuff said!
Blueberry pancakes with ricotta & orange
What would a breakfast round-up be without a stack of pancakes and I love ricotta in mine
For another take with oats & banana in the mix, try these fluffy blueberry pancakes with oats and banana
The most delicious orange & pecan muffins
Blueberry muffins with oats & almonds
Berry smoothie with banana and almond butter
This is my favourite breakfast smoothie recipe and I also use peanut butter if I don’t have almond butter on hand.
Spinach & corn scrambled eggs with Parmesan
My perfect huevos rancheros with chipotle

OMG! I just stumbled upon your blog and I’m loving everything! You are a chef after my own heart! All your recipes are up my alley. Guess I better start planning parties so I can share these great recipes!
Starting with the butter chicken…I might try a small taste test of it with coconut yogurt, and one with a drop of coconut extract just for the flavor cuz I love anything coconut.
Thanks,
Lia
